Thinking About Coffee
What’s the single most commonly made and consumed food or beverage item you make in your home? Well, if you are anything at all like us, it’s coffee, coffee, and more coffee. Sure, when we’re thinking about the layout of the bedroom, we’re going to be obsessing on which of the many platform beds on the market we’ll choose to go with the rest of our decor. When it comes to the kitchen, however, we might consider such items as the oven, the stove, the refrigerator and the microwave, but we also need to seriously contemplate the entire section of the room devoted to our favorite morning beverage.
For starters, we’ll need a good coffee maker. Though it’s highly arguable that the very best coffee is made either in a French press or a Melitta-style pour over cone filter, that kind of coffee isn’t always practical, especially when it’s more than just two people involved and we need to make large amounts of the stuff. We also love making espresso and cappuccino from time to time. That’s why our go-to coffee is the Krups Cafe Bistro. Of course, as all coffee hounds know, nothing ruins the stuff faster than the heating element under the pot, so we make sure to pour it into our matching high end thermal carafe just as soon as it’s fully brewed. Of course, the coffee grinder goes right next to the coffee maker and our vacuum jars for storing the coffee are also nearby. Properly stored, freshly ground coffee is always the best.
We admit that we love coffee so much that it will, on occasion, threaten to keep us out of whichever of the platform beds out there we’ll eventually purchase for the bedroom, but we don’t care. We’ve been looking a great deal at our local Starbucks and some other independent coffee houses in the area for ideas on what to do with our nook area. It might be taking our coffee obsession to a new and excessive place, but it’s the kind of excess we can live with.
